An idea for funding a new post.
In the catchment area for Dr Singh and
partners - a semi-rural practice with limited
public transport -
there are 3 residential homes for the elderly and provision for at
least 200 elderly people in sheltered accommodation. Additionally
there are greater
than average numbers of elderly patients living in
their own homes. Although some of
these elderly patients do qualify
for state-funded podiatry (by virtue of their medical condition)
there are many who don't and there is a distinct need for a
"toe-nail cutting
service".
The partners have applied for £3,500 on a recurring basis to fund
the provision of a
registered podiatrist to work in patients' homes.
This will purchase 6 hours a week of a podiatrist's time which will
allow elderly and housebound patients to have qualified
podiatry at
least every 3 months.
The Trustees have asked for the practice to explore additional
funding but have agreed
to pay £2000 for 5 years. |
